Polk City Parks & Recreation provides programs, leagues, shelter/facility reservations, and special events for the Polk City community and surrounding areas. Their mission is to provide high-quality facilities, parks, programs, and special events that meet the needs of the Polk City community. Parks & Recreation offers 3 seasonal program guides throughout the year that highlight programs, activities, leagues, trips, and special events for the following groups: preschool, youth, adults, and seniors.

Comet Basketball Club is a youth recreational basketball league for grades K-6 in Alleman and Polk City. CBC is an instructional, recreational basketball league promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It’s essential for all players and participants to encourage young athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship and teamwork. Adults and players are expected to demonstrate fairness, respect and self control. Our goal is to teach fundamentals while encouraging sportsmanship, teamwork and FUN!

Comet Volleyball Club is for students in grades 4-9 in the North Polk Community School District in central Iowa. Comet Volleyball Club is to dedicated to developing athletes of character, coaching life-long skills, and instilling a passion for the game in a positive environment. Players will be given the opportunity to learn the game of volleyball at the highest possible level, while simultaneously learning the important life lessons of teamwork, commitment, time management, sportsmanship and dependability. CVC participates participates in AAU and USA volleyball. Our season starts in December and runs through March.

The Comet Wrestling Club (CWC) began in 2010 by a small group of volunteers and a handful of young wrestlers and has continued to grow each year. CWC participants are both boys and girls that range from preschool through middle school. The primary goal of the Comet Wrestling Club is to help kids learn wrestling sills, have fun, and compete.

The North Polk flag and tackle football leagues continue to help our athletes develop general athletic skills and skills related to football. Leagues serve students in grades 3rd-high school. The purpose of the North Polk Football League is to continue to develop skills associated with football. These skills will be developed during a weekly practice and used during games. Games will be played on Saturday mornings after a short practice.

North Polk United Soccer Club is a progressive soccer program with recreational and competitive teams for children 6-18 years. The program aims to provide a fun experience where individuals develop soccer skills and learn the rules, tactics, and strategies of soccer. NP United promotes good sportsmanship, positive self-esteem, competitive team play, and healthy lifestyles through soccer.

Polk City Little League offers baseball and softball teams for boys and girls 4-12 years. Little League provides inclusive, enjoyable opportunities for any child and volunteer to participate in a community-based program that is distinctive, unique, and promotes life lessons beyond the field of play. Polk City Little League believes in the power of youth baseball and softball to teach life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities.

Kids Create is a mobile art studio offering exciting art classes in and around the Des Moines metro area. We offer lessons in Watercolor, Drawing, Clay, Acrylic, Ceramic Painting, Fibers, and Mixed Media. Located on the Square, Kids Create offers day camps, evening and weekend classes for children and adults, and summer camps.

Michelle’s School of Dance (MSOD) provides high-quality dance classes to enhance the overall development of the child. MOSD believes dance training encourages young people to develop a positive self-image as they increase awareness of their physical being. Along with improving coordination skills and developing muscular awareness, dance classes give children the freedom to express themselves through movement. The highest educational standards are expected from anyone that instructs at Michelle’s School of Dance. They are lifelong learners who educate themselves through ongoing development and training.

Ashlee’s Creative Arts Academy (ACAA) offers both recreational and competitive dance programs for boys and girls, ages 18 months to 18 years. Their program has been designed to maximize each student’s potential as a dancer and as a person by instilling in them confidence, self-expression, self-respect, discipline and passion. The goal at ACAA is to ensure all students are well rounded, successful, skilled, and show growth at each and every practice and performance.
